The church is a beautiful contrast to the impressive castle ruins and rocks in the surrounding area: peace, history and nature combined in a small village.

The ruins have a very special character due to their construction – you can still really feel the connection between nature and medieval architecture.

The castle, towering 150 meters above the Weisach Valley, is a widely visible symbol of power and history. First documented in 1126, it served as the ancestral seat of the Lords of Stein for centuries. In 1895, it passed to the Barons of Rotenhan and finally to the Haßberge district in 1972. Next to the church is the old schoolhouse. This is not surprising, as in the past, the priest was often also the village teacher. In many parishes, the priest was the sole contact for education. He was responsible not only for the spiritual care of the parish, but also for the education of the children, often referred to as preceptor or schoolmaster. This role of the priest as teacher was widespread until the 18th century, before specialized teachers and schools developed. Next to the church is the old schoolhouse.
