The Historical Museum of Mülheim an der Ruhr is also located in Broich Castle. The former fortress with its checkered history is the right location to present history in a vivid way. For example, a three-dimensional wooden model of Mülheim shows what it looked like during the reign of Napoleon I. Excavation finds, the family trees of the former lords of the castle and a room for the Prussian Queen Luise, who was a guest here when she was young, will be encountered on a journey through the centuries. Historic cityscapes and weapons from bygone times complete the diverse collection. Temporary exhibitions repeatedly illuminate individual aspects of Mülheim's city history.

We drove the route a few days ago. From Duisburg to Essen and back. Beautiful but sometimes very narrow paths on the Ruhr. It gets pretty crowded there on the weekends.

You can also get from Kettwig to Mühlheim directly on the banks of the Ruhr, but the signposted route of the RuhrtalRadweg takes you through the fields and through the picturesque Mintard with its many half-timbered houses. When the weather is nice, there is a lot going on here.
