Haus Reck is the old noble residence of the von der Recke family in the Lerche district, right on the city limits of Bergkamen. It was given the name “Haus Reck” in the middle of the 16th century. Previously it was called “Haus zur Heyde” because it is located in the “Pelkumer Heide”. As early as 1392 it became the residence of the Lords of Recke-Heeren. For centuries they were the Drosten zu Unna and Kamen, i.e. administrators who represented the sovereign. The core of the 15th century manor house is a late medieval stone building with chimney flues in the gables. The old ceilings and embrasures are still preserved. The coat of arms of the Lords of Recke can be seen in the entrance area of the manor house. The restored defensive tower and the battlement are parts of the medieval defense system. The defense tower made of green sandstone immediately catches the eye with its polygonal shape and curved hood. Haus Reck has been privately owned since 2005 and is run by the owner family as an agricultural farm. There is a beautiful wedding room from the city of Hamm in the defense tower.
