At 161 m, the Piekberg is the highest point on the island of Rügen. The "summit" is marked and lies in a small plantation with coniferous trees in the middle of the Jasmund beech forest. The routes there are only shown on old maps and are apparently no longer documented on purpose.

This modern lookout tower replaces a historic pilot watchtower. You can climb the observation tower and have a wonderful view from there. Next to the tower is the keeper's cottage.
