Messilä Ski Resort is located in Hollola, only about an hour’s drive from the Helsinki metropolitan area and around 10 km from Lahti city centre. The Salpausselkä ridges and Lake Vesijärvi create a unique setting for winter sports. Situated in the historic surroundings of Messilä Manor, the resort offers 10 slopes, 9 ski lifts, snowparks and a beginner-friendly area for children. Visitors can also enjoy accommodation, restaurants and a variety of winter activities such as skiing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Wonderful for hiking in summer

You ride across a narrow wooden boardwalk raised above the forest floor. It keeps your tires dry and rolling smoothly over soft, mossy terrain. Stay focused; some sections are curved or slightly uneven, so balance and a steady line are key.

You ride along a wide gravel road that cuts through the heart of the forest, surrounded by tall trees and the quiet rustle of leaves. The surface is firm and even, letting you pick up speed and enjoy the flow without technical obstacles.

Messilä harbour is a small marina on the western shore of Lake Vesijärvi, just south of Lahti, offering a peaceful stop for cyclists exploring the Salpausselkä Geopark area. It’s part of the larger Messilä resort, which is known for its ski slopes in winter and hiking and cycling routes in summer. The harbour area has a pier, café, and beautiful lake views, making it a great place for a break or picnic. It’s easily accessible by trekking or cross bike via gravel and paved roads. The surroundings are hilly, so be prepared for some moderate climbs.

It is a protected, swampy area with forest floors often covered with moss.
