The forest of Halssila lies just east of Jyväskylä and is part of the Aittovuori ridge area, offering a mix of spruce, birch, aspen, and pine woodlands with rocky outcrops and small wetlands.

Step onto the wooden boardwalk and let the forest guide you. Pines and birches line your way as the planks carry you safely across soft ground and mossy wetlands. Every few meters the trees open to reveal shimmering views of Lake Vuorilampi – perfect for a pause.

Experience the trails around Makamäki and Pirunvuori with breathtaking views over the lakes as well as cycling through the beautiful pine forests.

The Säynätsalo Municipal Hall is one of the most significant works of architect Alvar Aalto, who has an internationally renowned position in the history of modern architecture. Aalto himself was fascinated by Säynätsalo and named the islands of Lake Päijänne Tahiti.

From here you can have a good view of the lake.

There are several passages and small caves between the huge rocks.
