The road between Jetrichovice and Rynartice has good asphalt. Coming from Jetrichovice, it climbs steeply in places, with a gradient of more than 14%.

Road between Hrensko and Vysoka Lipa, steadily uphill from the Elbe. Road with minor damage, but generally good driving.

The Elbe Cycle Path, which leads across the border, is a great ride. With some fantastic views.

What about "border controls"?

Beautiful climb with grades up to 18%. Road surface is top quality and there is not a lot of traffic. Roughly 140m of climbing if I remember correctly.

From the source to the mouth: end of the Czech cycle route no. 2 and beginning of the German D-Route 10. Here the Elbe kilometre marking is 0 (downstream) or 730 (upstream).

Mariánský most (Mary's Bridge) is a striking cable-stayed bridge over the Elbe River. The reinforced concrete bridge was opened in 1998 and is open to car traffic and pedestrians. It is 179 meters long, and its two diagonally positioned pylons are 60 meters high and together support 30 steel cables. The bridge faces directly toward Mariánská skála (Mary's Rock). The architect was Roman Koucký, born in 1959.

With beautiful sunny weather and still in the off-season, it's truly wonderful here. The castle complex itself is stunning, as are the magnificent views of the Elbe and the lovely restaurant. The size of the parking lot, however, gives you an idea of what can be happening here.
