The barn to the left is called "Storkeladen" (stork barn) because storks used to have a nest there. The barn is of historical importance, in earlier times plant seeds were dried and the building is now owned by the "Naturstyrelsen" authority.

In German further down Gurrehus is not far from the much-visited castle ruins. The origins go back several centuries. It was rebuilt in 1881 in the style of Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen. In 1914, Prince George of Greece became the new owner and the castle was rebuilt in neoclassical style. During World War II, it was used by the German occupying forces and then by the Red Cross. After Prince Georg's death in 1959, the Danish military took over the building and used it as an officers' school and course location. During the Cold War, the National Police set up a command post in a specially protected basement. In 1999, the state abandoned the property, and a construction company left the building empty for years. In 2012, the house was renovated by a new owner and has since been used as a private residence. The Gurrehus country castle is located close to the much-visited ruin. The astronomer Ole Rømer (1640-1710) was commissioned by the king to measure the road network in Denmark. The Danish mile set by him is now 7538 m. The road network was covered with a measuring vehicle that could register every wheel revolution and milestones were set up on a small hill. The milestone hill seen here is the last to be preserved in Denmark. The milestone itself is gone ... But a measuring car is still in the war museum (armory) in Copenhagen and many of the later milestones are still on country roads as decorations.

Paths were not built in the Middle Ages, but arose by themselves through the carts, animals and people who used the path. If the path could no longer be used, a new path usually formed parallel to it. The king was tired of it and had his own paths laid out to secure the connection between his castles. As a royal route, these were even attached to inclines or in swamp areas by stones. These royal roads were not allowed to be used by others. On this forest path you can still find sections with this old stone pavement. They are also identified by signs.
