The Corrèze is a river in the Massif Central, which gives its name to the department of the same name in New Aquitaine. Rising at an altitude of almost 900 metres on the Millevaches plateau, it flows for around 95 kilometres before flowing into the Vézère, a tributary of the Dordogne. The river crosses several communes, including Tulle and Brive-la-Gaillarde, playing an important role in the history and development of the region. "The collegiate church of Saint-Martin in Brive-la-Gaillarde, in the Corrèze, was rebuilt in the 12th century on the remains of a first building from the 15th century and is dedicated to one of the city's patron saints. From the original site, visitors can still discover the transept, an octagonal dome on pendentives, part of the apse and beautiful carved capitals in the choir. Remodelled several times, the collegiate church of Saint-Martin de Brive also features a sixty-metre-high bell tower in the neo-Romanesque style of Limousin and a crypt containing the remains of the first basilica. Freely accessible from Monday to Saturday, it can also be discovered as part of a guided tour by booking in advance with the Brive agglomeration tourist office."

Chaumeil may not seem like much, but this seemingly insignificant village is home to two local celebrities. A charming museum open only during the summer season pays tribute to Jean Ségurel, the famous accordionist born and died in the village. The museum also has a bicycle by Raymond Poulidor, a famous French cyclist born in Masbaraud-Mérignat in the Creuse. The famous “Allez Poupou” is inscribed in the collective memory of cyclists. His duels with Anquetil contributed to the legend of the Tour de France.

Listed as a Historical Monument in 1862, the Saint Martin Collegiate Church in the city center has a rather austere exterior but is well worth a visit. Archaeological excavations are also shown in the crypt, which have uncovered traces of the first early medieval church buildings that preceded the current building.
