The bridleway climbs from around 100 m above sea level in Fonthill Bishop up to just over 150 m where it joins the road at Ridge. Underfoot it's a gravelly, stony track which gets muddy sometimes, it's easy to run on and fun either in ascent or descent. Great views as it follows the edge of the hill and woodland.

Mackintosh Davidson Wood is a nature reserve managed by the Woodland Trust. It's a mixture of ancient and newly planted woodland and some fields and glades. There are several footpaths through the woods.

Windmill Hill has a nice viewpoint looking south-west. The actual windmill stands to the north-east.

This entrance to Fonthill Park was probably built c. 1756 to designs of John Vardy; long decorative walls, with urn finials, were added on both sides of the road c. 1860.
