From the village of Upper Hambleton there is a path that takes you round the peninsula. It is around 4m in length.

St Andrew's Church is the Church of England parish church of Hambleton, Rutland. It is a Grade II* listed building.

The village stands on the Hambleton Peninsula between arms of the Rutland Water reservoir.

Really helpful staff - worth just going in for a chat!

I love this climb. Like everyone says it is nice and steady and a good length. Watch out for the Get Busy Living Centre promoted by Matt Hampson and also the Airborne Memorial on the left. If you want a harder climb to Burrough try the nearby ascent from the Dalbys.

Fairly enjoyable walk. Although many miles spent walking by roadsides with limited/no view of the reservoir. People who follow this route (as I did), please be aware that around 2.7 miles in, the restricted access warning prevented any access of the route whatsoever (unless obtaining permission/key pass). This left me having to detour back up to the main road and added a further 1.5 miles onto my route and a couple of failed attempts trying to get back to the route again. This route is definitely more suited to cyclists, but worth the go on a nice day.

One of the best Cafes in town

There is a reasonable view from the very quiet lane running from Owston through Maresfield to Twyford. Freight trains were using the viaduct until 1964 and the track was lifted soon after that.

Dating from the 12th century, the church is essentially Norman with good examples of Norman carving in the chancel arch and the south door. Patterned columns support the doorway.

Drop in for an impromptu coffee and bike view

I use this place regularly. They are very helpful and can sort most jobs that you can't manage at home, like removing spd cleats whose fixing bolts have rounded off or pedals stuck in cranks (despite being greased). Usually some form of bike-racing on the big TV screen to provide distraction.

Love this bike shop! Spacious and well laid out with a wide range of cycles, equipment, kit and services. And they know their stuff. One of my go-to destinations.

Very welcoming bike shop. Enjoyed a free coffee whilst browsing :) Staff were very accommodating, space for bikes to be parked inside shop as well as outside.

This lane features on the Cicle Classic pro race, and Owston is a hub for this event. The lane is narrow and undulating, but a very enjoyable ride - even on narrow tyres.

A piece of railway history to gaze upon as you steam past, footpaths and other roads surrounding if you want to further explore the old viaduct.

If you're looking for something substantial, unfortunately no trace of the original priory buildings survive, only earthworks are left. Some fragments of the original buildings are thought to have been used in the present sixteenth century (privately owned) house, called "Brooke Priory". The Brooke Reliquary is a small casket that dates from the 13th Century. It originates from the workshops in Limoges, France and is believed to have held a saint's relics. The reliquary was discovered c.1805, after years of being concealed on the site of Brooke Priory, when building work was carried out in the cellar of Priory House. It is now on display in Rutland County Museum in Oakham.

Bit of a challenging climb, measured up to 13% in places. Was even more challenging upon my first approached due to the cold, wind and sideways rain. Once you’re over the steepest part it’s not too bad. feels quite rewarding!

Peninsula provides an amazing overview of the landscape of Rutland Water
