The lock is near Bank Mill Bridge No 143 (to the northwest) and Bullbeggers Lane Winding Hole (to the southeast). There is good mooring available nearby, and it's a short walk into Berkhamsted.

Just a leafy trail that joins up the Common and Nettleden Road.

This is a lovely singletrack through Pulpit Hill showcasing the beautiful landscapes of the Chilterns. It's in an elevated position so you can enjoy views of rolling hills, lush valleys and patchwork fields.

Ashridge Estate is a large area of ancient trees, chalk downland and meadows in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's been managed by the National Trust since 1926.

This is a great single track that goes up through Pond Wood, past Longdown Farm, and onwards into Pulpit Wood. It can be muddy in bad weather. It is an established trail though and forms part of the Icknield Way Trail, so beware of hikers and other path users.

Amaravati is a Theravada Buddhist monastery situated at the eastern end of the Chiltern Hills in south-east England. It is near the Hertfordshire village of Great Gaddesden. Amaravati opened formally in 1985, after the English Sangha Trust had purchased the site from Bedfordshire County Council. It had formerly been a residential school and consisted of several large huts in Canadian cedar, built by the Canadian Air Force before World War II.
