A medieval market and fair town which has been settled since Roman times Newent is a pretty little town with some interesting old buildings including the grade 1 listed 13th century Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There are also several black and white half timbered Tudor buildings including the Market House in the main street.

The Woodshed is located right at the entry to Eastnor Deer Park, which played host to the legendary Malvern Classic MTB event for a number of years, but isn’t normally open to cyclists. There’s plenty of seating, both under cover in the “shed” and out in the fresh air, bike racks, a toilet, bins and even free wifi. Dog-walking friends or family will appreciate the dog shower and poo bins. There’s a decent-sized free car park so, if you wanted, you could easily start/finish the circular route here rather than in Great Malvern as I’ve suggested. On offer from the café are locally-sourced treats, including paninis, samosas, scotch eggs, soups and handmade sausage rolls from nearby Legges of Bromyard. Those with a sweet tooth won’t be disappointed either, with assorted cakes, bakes and ice creams on the menu, including gluten free and vegetarian options. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cold drinks are also available. Drinks and food are served in recyclable or compostable packaging and all waste is sorted for recycling.

Beautiful town. Worth to visit.

A beautiful church which is somewhat hidden in the trees and is next to a tithe barn. The road on which it is located is also a very quiet and picturesque road to take.

Tibberton is a quiet and pleasant little village in the countryside between Gloucester and the Forest of Dean. There are some lovely walks in the surrounding countryside, with the ancient woodland of Highnam Woods within striking distance. Spring is a delightful time to visit the woods, when nightingales breed among cuckoo flowers, wood anemones and bluebells.

A Grade II listed church that forms part of the wider Severnside Benefice, which comprises the Parishes of Chaceley, Forthampton, Deerhurst with Apperley and Tredington with Stoke Orchard and Hardwicke. The tower is 13th century. In the churchyard there is a whipping post and stocks. The post has manacles and stocks for three which have survived from 1787.

The church stands on the east bank of the River Severn and opposite to Deerhurst. The church as an unusual Norman chancel arch with a 'devils's face' keystone, probably of Saxon origin, and some 13th century features including the tower with a small spire. It is great to cycle around as it almost forms a roundabout on the route, giving you a view of most of the church.

A 14th century Grade 1 listed church, that is one of eight historic churches between two rivers of the Severn and the Leadon. Most of the parish is below the 100ft contour, sloping down to riverside meadows, which are liable to flooding.

Go round the back of the church to see the unusual Grade 2 listed stone bee shelter in the churchyard.

Built in 1871 to commemorate bodies found in adjacent field that were believed to be Welsh Royalist troops killed during the Battle of Highnam House / Battle of Barber's Bridge on 24 March 1643. The B4215 passes this spot as does the former Gloucester and Hereford Canal, later superseded by the railway, both now long defunct.

Tithe Barn is opposite Hartpury Church. Its origin is 15th Century.

From Norman times the church was a possession of St. Peter's Abbey in Gloucester. The tower was added in the 14th Century .

Worth a detour to see this interesting wooden church in a pretty Worcestershire village.
