In the summer of 1933, 158 Jewish residents still lived in Guxhagen. The persecution that began led to some of them emigrating; at least 85 Jews died in ghettos and concentration camps or were murdered outright during the Nazi era. Two survivors returned to Guxhagen in 1947 and lived there until their deaths in the 1970s. They are buried in the Jewish cemetery above Guxhagen.
