Normally, the ruins are closed to the public. However, there is a way. At the castle hotel, you can get the key for the gate and visit the ruins. The observation tower was particularly important to me because I visit similar ones by bicycle in the TV series "The Tower Hunt." The tower looks massive. Spiral stone stairs lead up to a small room where you can also reach the viewing platform. First, though, you have to climb the vertical metal ladder. It's worth it because the view is beautiful. You can see the ruins and the surrounding area very well.

The well-developed cycle path offers a relatively flat route through the Leine Valley to Northeim. The path appears to be better maintained this year (see above). You can have a picnic in the meadows right on the banks.

A very nice little farm shop, perfect for a quick stop in the summer. They sell drinks and ice cream. Next door, you can visit the alpacas.
