The tropical greenhouse is only open from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday and Friday to Sunday. You can take a tour of the greenhouse at 2 p.m. or of the outdoor area at 3:30 p.m. The latter is closed during the winter months. A visit is free (unless you want to take the tour). The greenhouse is very interesting because it is also dedicated to educational purposes, and you can experience many cultivated plants from around the world.

The approximately 500 plant species in the tropical greenhouse are crops from the University of Kassel in Witzenhausen. There are various food, feed, spice, medicinal, dye, energy, fragrance or fiber plants from the tropics and subtropics and are available for teaching and research. But private visitors or groups of visitors can also look at the plants, get a tour of the greenhouse or attend workshops, seminars, etc. visit.

Witzenhausen is known as the cherry town. Rightly so: The area around Witzenhausen is considered the largest closed cherry growing area in Europe. The cherry has a tradition here and every July the “Kesperkirmes” is celebrated and a cherry queen is crowned.

The Werra Bridge is the only overpass over the Werra in Witzenhausen and is therefore a fully utilized structure for cars, bicycles, pedestrians and more. Originally, the building, built according to the building book in 1608, consisted of 7 natural stone vaults (sandstone) arranged one behind the other. In 1928 the building was widened with reinforced concrete vaults on both sides. After the 3 inner vaults were blown up in 1945, they were initially replaced by a temporary bridge and then in 1950 by a steel frame structure.

The Öhrchen near Wendershausen, a beautiful place for all ages: - a rest area with several tables and benches, partly covered, and a meadow - At the same time, the flax stream, from which a small water playground was built, runs here, ideal for children, but also for adults for a cool foot bath in summer - A playground with swings, slide, spinning carousel and sandpit - A barbecue area (groups of 10-15 people or more should register with the Werra-Meißner Geonaturpark) - In front of it there is a hiking car park, ideal for tours e.g. to Habichtsstein and Ludwigstein Castle
