The church was first mentioned as a small chapel in 1227. The building was expanded in several stages, for example, the striking tower was added in 1752. Since 1450, a wood-carved winged altarpiece has stood on the Gothic stone altar, depicting not only Jesus but also St. Catherine with the torture instruments of the wheel and sword.
