Our passion for cheese was instilled in us from birth. The van de Voort family ran a farm in the Netherlands as early as 1600. The first cheese was produced around 40 years ago. Even then, it was made with milk from Jersey cows. Today, our family farm is still run under the name “De Groote Voort” by my brother, Jan Dirk van de Voort, and his sons Peter and David. The famous, award-winning Remeker cheese is of course available to buy in our online shop and at the weekly markets. I ended up in Germany as a graduate in agricultural management. First as managing director of a large dairy farm, later with my own farm. Over 29 years ago, I fulfilled a dream with “Käseleckerland”. (Source: https://www.kaeseleckerland.de)

The old wooden bridge was demolished and a temporary bridge for pedestrians was set up during the construction phase. The new, seemingly oversized bridge has been open to traffic since December 2023.

The Oker is a great river. The floodplains in particular are a great place for nature. But you don't always get the chance to see it. Here from the bridge you get an idea of how it is north of Braunschwig in the Okerauen.
