This church in Erle has a patron saint's name that is truly on everyone's lips, but only a few will know the person behind it: Saint Sylvester's commemoration day is December 31st. He lived at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth century and was Bishop of Rome when Emperor Constantine recognized Christianity as a religion with the Edict of Milan - known as the "Edict of Toleration" - and thus ended (at least temporarily) the period of bloody persecution of Christians.

The Engelrading house is privately owned, but can be viewed from the outside. If we meet interested parties outside, we are of course always happy to provide information. It was first mentioned in 1316 as a castle complex. After several battles, conquests and sales, the property had fallen into such disrepair at the beginning of the 18th century that it was rebuilt as a manor house in 1707.
