A magical place! The old Ewald mine site with the Hoheward and Hoppenbruch slag heaps. A place you simply must see and experience.

The Marina harbor in Gelsenkirchen is a great place to stop for a break. There's an ice cream parlor with delicious ice cream and a burger restaurant right next door. A wonderful maritime atmosphere in the heart of the Ruhr region – brilliant.

The "Blue Bridge" is a pedestrian and bicycle bridge in Haltern am See, crossing the Stever River at the roller weir. Completed in spring 2024, it is an important part of the region's tourism offering, offering pedestrians and cyclists a new connection across the river.

One of the highest points in the Ruhr area: Hoheward slag heap with its observatory and obelisk that displays the true local time.

The former mine site in Herten is currently being redeveloped. Lots to see, definitely worth a visit.

Halden themselves aren't necessarily natural beauties, but the view from them over the Ruhr region is sensational on a clear day. And if you know the area and are familiar with it, or know someone who is, all the better.
