The well-maintained grounds reveal their flair and charm, especially during the pre-Christmas season. But there's also plenty to see in the immediate vicinity: an old mill wheel, parts of the city wall, and the Eichsfeld Museum. It's a particularly beautiful sight in the evening, when the church and surrounding buildings are illuminated.

The Theodor Storm Museum in Heiligenstadt is located in the rooms of one of the oldest houses in the city, the Mainz House, built in 1436 in the Franconian half-timbered style. It was opened in 1988 on the 100th anniversary of the poet's death. A permanent exhibition in the rooms of the Mainz House presents Theodor Storm's world and artistic work between 1856 and 1864. During these years, Storm worked as a district judge in Heiligenstadt. Baroque gardens were originally created as places for special, enjoyable experiences in the open air and as independent works of art. They were not presented as a private refuge (or: not as a private retreat). Bridge has a very beautiful old town.

St. Martin's Church is a former collegiate church. It was built from 1304 to 1487 in the Gothic style. It has been a Protestant church since 1803. Heinrich Heine was baptized here on June 25, 1825. Theodor Storm also belonged to this community during his time in Heiligenstadt. Two of his children were baptized here.
