Three beautiful Neolithic or Early Bronze Age stone circles arranged in a line, a unique grouping in England. The Hurlers Stone Circles are probably the best examples of ceremonial circles in the South West. https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/hurlers-stone-circles/

The dam was built in 1968 to create the reservoir which provides drinking water and tops up the water levels of the River Fowey during the dry months. Once a small tributary of the River Fowey, Siblyback Lake now holds 3 billion litres of water.

St Nonna's Church is an impressive sight and known locally as the 'Cathedral of the Moors'. The church was built in the 15th century with local granite from the moors. St Nonna was the mother of St David, who travelled through Cornwall as a Celtic missionary on her way to Europe around the year 527. It is well worth a visit inside the church to see the carved bench ends, the square Norman font and the timber beams.

This area through open moorland will provide you with views of the engine and wheal houses, part of Cornwall's industrial past. Great road to ride! The remnants of the mines date back to the 1830s when copper was discovered under Caradon Hill.

The Hurlers are three stone circles on the edge of Bodmin Moor. Legend has it that these were Cornish Hurler players, caught out on a Sunday and punished. They are thought to date to between 2,100 & 1,500 BCE.

Enjoy this traffic-free gravel track around Sibleyback Reservoir that's designed with pedestrians and cyclists in mind. The 3 mile (5 km) trail is also suitable for adaptive cycles, wheelchairs and pushchairs, and takes in both the Sibleyback Dam and idyllic woodlands. Wildlife lovers will be thrilled, as there's often plenty to see on and near the water, as well as a bird hide to hunker down in to watch.

If you are looking for somewhere that conjures up the smuggling history of Cornwall, then this is it. The setting for Daphne du Maurier's novel, Jamaica Inn is an 18th century coaching inn which provided travellers respite from crossing the wilds of Bodmin Moor. As it was in the middle of nowhere, it was also the perfect location to hide goods being smuggled into the country from the Cornish coast. At Jamaica Inn you will still find a place to rest a while, enjoy some food and drink or even stay the night. Plus a collection of smuggling artefacts to really give you an insight into its history.

7월 27, 2022, Colliford Lake

Colliford is the largest lake in Cornwall and the road passing by it provides superb views. There are plentiful picnic spots alongside the lake, but watch out for ponies roaming free who might steal a sandwich. Watersports aren't allowed here which makes for a peaceful area, but you may spot a fly fisher seeking out an elusive brown trout.

A short distance from the road is Golitha Falls, where the river Fowey drops through Drakes Wood. Golitha Falls is a National Nature Reserve (NNR) and a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). In the spring it is blanketed with bluebells.

Surely Cornwall's most famous inn, this is the setting of Daphne Du Maurier's novel 'Jamaica Inn'. The pub is a Grade II-listed building and was built in the mid-18th century. It was a well known smugglers inn and is today quite a tourist destination. In the heart of Bodmin Moor, it certainly occupies an impressive position.

King Doniert's Stone - a decorated granite base for a Celtic Memorial cross that dates to the late 9th Century. It is thought to have been built to commemorate Doniert, the last recorded king of Cornwall.

Brown Willy (Bronn Wennili) meaning 'Hill of Swallows', the highest hill in Cornwall! Enjoy great views of it from across the water here at Colliford Lake.
