Hartley Arms at Wheaton Aston is rather splendid. It's right on the canal for those who like to mix up road and towpath on a ride.

Food times: Mon - Sat 12-2pm Sun - 12-4pm

Blithfield reservoir was built in 1953 to supply drinking water to the surrounding area. The reservoir and surrounding woodland have been designated as a a SSSI due to the important bird life in the area. The causeway that crosses the reservoir gives good views across the water so do stop and have a look around.

Penkridge Bank road across the woodland of Cannock Chase. It's not a huge hill but it's a fun road.

A lovely view over the reservoir, but not the nicest road to ride, especially when there's a lot of traffic. 🌊

Great local bike shop, equipped with a workshop and the best coffee going.

Nice cafe bar run by Titanic Brewery, serving good vegan breakfast! Friendly staff, large and modern menu. For a decent meal (rather than cakes and cheese sandwiches) this was the best place I found in Newport and Market Drayton.

Lovely tea room in an old house in Newport. Great little garden where you can leave your bike, they serve breakfast, lunch and teas as well as wine and beer! Open Mon to Fri 9:00 - 15:00 Sat 9:00 - 15:30 Closed Sundays and bank holidays.
