The list on the scree climb has a vibrant red colour hence the name of the pike. Worth the steep hike up!

Great walk

Great fell fantastic views down to wasdale and ennerdale water plenty of camping spots and can also be ticked off by doing the Mosedale horseshoe

High Crag, although lower than its near higher neighbour High Stile, gives excellent views of upper Ennerdale, Great Gable and across to Pillar and Pillar Rock. It is a steep pull up from Scarth Gap but most people tend to do this ridge west to east.

High Stile at 806m is the highest of the hills on the long ridge from Scarth Gap to Bourne End to the south of Buttermere and Crummock Water. High Stile is an excellent vantage point for the whole Buttermere valley and also south to Ennerdale and Pillar. As in so many cases, the Wainwright summit isn't at the highest point, the latter being the cairn above the narrow north ridge.

Black Sail Pass is the high point on the old packhorse route from Wasdale Head into upper Ennerdale and now provides a link between Wasdale Head and Black Sail Youth Hostel. It is the lowest point on the ridge between Kirk Fell and Pillar.

Char Dub, a narrow stretch of the River Liza between the Irish Bridge and the lake, is an area where Arctic Char spawn, giving rise to its name.

Waterside path that completely circles Ennerdale. A bit rocky and uneven on oneside but good on the other side

Fun very short scramble on red scree to the top. I couldn't see much else from there as caught in a heavy rain shower

Haycock, at 2,615 feet (797 m), is one of the most westerly high summits in the Lake District. It's fairly remote, being a reasonable distance from any road starting points, so you won't see many people when running here. Great views though, both east into the high fells and west out over Whitehaven to the Irish Sea.
