North face route is screey, quite steep and exposed in parts, but still very do-able with great views at the summit. Well worth a trip!

The cairn is over the fence which has barbed wire topping it, but the actual spot height is on the opposite side to the cairn.

My Komoot showed the summit at a slight different location to the main cairn. I did both just to be sure I’d ticked this one off the list

The highest point of the Loweswater Fells and a great place for some peace and quiet.

Don't be put off by the name, this is a beautifully positioned fell in the Western Lake District between the Wainwrights of Low Fell and Fellbarrow.

A 392m fell between the Wainwrights of Fellbarrow and Low Fell in the Western Lake District. I love to add this fell to my hike of the the Wainwrights from Thackthwaite.

Cracking walk with stunning views

The National Trust owns and maintains a series of these bothy style buildings around the country. Unlike a traditional mountain bothy, they are available for private hire through the NT holidays website. This one sleeps six on wooden sleeping platforms. There is a log burner but nothing else so it's a bit like camping with walls. The location on the southern bank of Loweswater is a great adventure base. The lakeside trail is a a nice easy run and Mellbreak Fell is nearby.

Holme Beck's cascades tumble down from the Loweswater fells of Burnbank Fell, Blake Fell and Carling Knott, empyting into Loweswater after a delightful journey through Holme Wood. These three fells, two of which are Wainwrights, make for a modest but beautiful fellwalk, while a stroll through Holme Wood along the shores of Loweswater is classic Lakeland.

Great for dog walking
