One of my favourite mid-ride snack stops. Coffee and a slice of bakewell, sets you up for whatever hill you’re taking out of the village

Ladybower is a large reservoir in the Upper Derwent Valley surrounded by rugged moorland, rolling farmland and majestic woodland. Above, beside and along the reservoir, breathtaking views await. The reservoir was built between 1935 and 1943. It was officially opened by King George VI in September 1945.

Damflask Reservoir is a wonderful place for relaxation and recreation. An easygoing path encircles the body of water, which is suitable for all abilities. An easy and fulfilling hike for those with little ones. An easily accessible place that is idyllic can, of course, get very busy at peak times and/or sunny days. Choose your time to explore wisely if you want some tranquillity.

This is a great climb, followed by a great view. However a word of caution, there is a path back down with a 35% descent.....GO THAT WAY AT YOUR PERIL

So much fun especially after it rains

A lovely spot to gather before a ride or hike, grab a coffee and watch the world go by, and pop to the chip shop after a long gravel ride! Alpkit is just up the road and there are public toilets next to the benches too.

Fantastic place to rest, refuel and repair bike at the peaks.

Beautiful view of Ladybower Reservoir, but the other side is also very beautiful. A sunny day makes it even more beautiful.
