Sandstone can be found everywhere on the Gauja and in Latvia and shapes the water color. Opposite the rock is a small beach with barbecue areas that invites you to linger.

Beautifully made exhibition in Latvian and English; Here is information about the mammals of the park, especially for children very nice: Nest swing in front of the wooden house and the animal sound apparatus, where you always have to crank to elicit his sounds. ;-)

The Ķūķu rock is made of red sandstone and can best be reached from the boat. Accessible by foot from the Līgatne-Kārļi road (from there a small forest road turns towards Gauja, see signpost). The Ķūķu rock is the largest sandstone exposure of the Devon in Latvia: 500 meters long and up to 43 meters high. You also have a good view of the natural tent from the other shore.
