Creevelea Abbey is an early 16th-century Franciscan friary and National Monument located in Dromahair. While just over the border from County Sligo in County Leitrim, it is an important monument signalling the end (or start) of the Sligo Way. While it is in ruins, Creevelea Abbey is still in use as a grave yard.

The famous Irish poet William Butler Yeats is closely associated with County Sligo; he used the abbey in two short stories: "The Crucifixion of the Outcasts" and "The Curse of Fire and Shadow." Yeats is buried in the nearby Drumcliffe Church.

At the Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery, archaeologists have discovered the remains of more than 60 tombs, of which more than 30 have been excavated. The oldest tombs are about 700 years older than Newgrange and date from around 3800 BC.

Dowra is a picturesque village in northwest County Cavan, located near the source of the River Shannon. The village is rich in history, and is along the Beara-Breifne Way, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike.

At this lovely spot and across the road is the Holy Well. It has a significance with the irish troubles and where the catholics made/built an outdoor church to worship, in a forest.

The graves at Carrowmore are numbered - a list is available at the entrance. This is Grave 51 - a former barrow that was opened at the back in 1998 and the interior was uncovered. It is now possible to go into the grave.

Carrowmore (Irish: An Cheathrú Mhór, 'the great quarter') is a large group of megalithic monuments. They were built in the 4th millennium BC, during the Neolithic (New Stone Age). There are about thirty surviving tombs from about 80. There may have been more monuments originally, but some fell victim to quarrying and field clearance during the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries.
