A nice place to relax and enjoy the view.

It's especially beautiful to explore in April and May, when it's not yet too hot, yet the sun is already shining warmly. The view from the citadel of the still snow-capped peaks of the Pindus Mountains is breathtaking. It's recommended to leave your car a little further away and walk towards the citadel and the old town, as parking is limited and the streets are narrow. Especially around Easter, it's busy, and the cafés and restaurants are full.

To all bike travelers, I highly recommend you to go to his workshop for any problem or simply to have your bikes serviced before facing other neighboring countries. It is located in a strategic place close to the border. If you contact him in advance (via his Instagram page @the_bicycle_workshop_), he can order parts for you. He is certainly one of the best repairers in the north of the country and especially in neighboring countries. All his advice on bike maintenance is very relevant and yet quite unknown to cycle tourists. Very happy to leave with a brand new bike!

Castle of Ioánnina. Definitely worth a trip to visit the old town, with super nice streets and beautiful old buildings.

a great view from up here on the lake and the old town... And the fortress itself, the mosque and the museum are also worth a thorough visit.

In and around Ioannina there are many worthwhile destinations and opportunities for all sorts of activities.
