A small exhibition about the Mindelsee region, its origins, and the diversity of its flora and fauna. There's also a small café, and you can purchase some regional specialties.

The moated castle dates back to the 14th century. Today, the castle is owned by the von Bodman family. Since 1946, it has been the headquarters of the Radolfzell Bird Observatory, part of the Max Planck Institute for Behavioral Research.

A very beautiful, quiet, and tranquil area, especially during the week 😉. However, there are hardly any places to sit, especially in the last third of the tour, which can be tiring for older people in summer temperatures. This could be improved. My recommendation: bring a light blanket so you can sit down and rest under a tree.

A narrow path leads you through a green birch avenue at Lake Mindelsee. The light-colored trunks stand close together and the leaves move gently in the wind.

Lake Mindelsee is located on the Bodanrück, northeast of Radolfzell, and has been a nature reserve since 1938. It is one of the most important wetlands for waders and water birds in Baden-Württemberg. Formed by the Rhine glacier around 14,000 years ago, the area is now a valuable habitat for numerous animal and plant species. A well-signposted circular path leads hikers around the lake, while the BUND nature conservation center in Möggingen offers exciting insights.
