The Barbara Canal (overpass 9) is an artificially created navigable waterway in the northern Saxon municipality of Elsterheide. The canal lies between Lake Geierswalde and Lake Partwitz near Geierswalde. It is an artificially created canal in the Lusatian Lake District and connects two lakes formed by former open-cast lignite mines.

The Sorno Canal is the 1,250-meter-long, navigable connection between Lake Geierswalde and Lake Sedlitz. Its name refers to the town of Sorno, which had to make way for the former Sedlitz open-cast mine and thus, to a certain extent, also for today's Lake Sedlitz.

In the future, Lake Sedlitz will play a central role in the navigable network of lakes in the heart of the Lusatian Lake District and will be connected via three canals. The former Sedlitz open-cast mine has been flooded since 2005. The flooding level is 90% (as of July 2024) and will continue. It will soon be the largest artificial lake in the Lusatian Lake District.

The Partwitzer See was created in 2015 by flooding the former Scado lignite open-cast mine. Scado was a village that had to make way for the neighboring Koschen open-cast mine in the 1960s.

Unfortunately cannot be used yet.

There is not much going on here yet, but soon this port will play a central role in the Lusatian lake landscape
