Good asphalt, beautiful scenery and a lovely avenue, little traffic

This stone village church truly stands out. It's unusually sturdy and so ideally situated in the small village that it offers excellent views from all sides. There are plenty of great photo opportunities!

Among the most important furnishings is a tall, three-tiered carved wooden altar with richly decorated ormolu work, dating from 1625. It originated in Schmölln and was installed in Gerswalde in 1983. The altar depicts scenes of the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, the Resurrection, and the Ascension, as well as the Evangelists in shell niches.

“St. Mary on the Mountain” in Boitzenburg was built in the second half of the 13th century and was first mentioned on July 25, 1271 in a deed of donation from the Margraves of Brandenburg to the Cistercian monastery of Boitzenburg.

The fieldstone church in Gerswalde is located directly on the market square in the village center. The church was built around 1250 on a hill within the village. A unique feature of the church is the checkerboard stone in the west gable, quite high above the portal. Besides the checkerboard stone, the church also features a sundial and "Feierabendsteine" (literally "evening stones"). These "Feierabendsteine" are the last bricks of the day, often decorated by the workers.

Very nice church building to look at. The connection is also great. It's right on the main street and there's a bus stop just in front of it.

Very easy to reach whether by bike, on foot, by car or bus. The stop is a few meters next to the building.

In the post-Corona period, the street is significantly busier despite the rainy weather.
