The trail is rooty and quite overgrown in summer. Swimming is prohibited beyond the bathing area. However, it's a very fun trail for mountain biking or hiking.

Behind the gate with the tin fish, a world begins that smells of smoke, water, and work. Old nets, thick logs, a boat under fish traps – this isn't a place for decoration, it's a place for life. And yes: there's fish. Freshly smoked, golden brown, and as honest as only the Spreewald can produce. If you're lucky, you'll even find a spot in the shade and a chance to chat. No touristy chic, no instant sauce – just fish, fire, and the good feeling of being exactly where you want to be. Tip: eat warm food. Silence. Enjoy.

Anyone walking or driving across the bridge here should stop. Not because of the traffic – but for the view. The Spree opens up like a tranquil mirror between forests, reeds, and hidden boat docks. Sometimes covered in water lilies, sometimes clear as glass. And the most beautiful thing: it changes with every weather. If you turn off the Gurkenradweg (cucumber cycle path), you'll find a place beyond the village that needs no spectacle: a bench with a roof, a bit of moss, a glassy Spree River, sometimes with swans on it. The Pretschen Spree Pond isn't a destination in the traditional sense—it's simply a good place to slow down. There's a gentle chirping here, the willows hang low, and if you're lucky, you might even see the church tower in the background. In the heart of the village, yet unobtrusive: The Protestant church in Pretschen, with its pointed spire, rises confidently into the Brandenburg sky – made of red brick, with a clear form and a good foundation. Inside, a bright space surprises, where wood, glass, and text quietly converse with one another. Passing by, you sense that this wasn't a splurge, but a construction – for the community, for Sunday, for eternity. And those sitting outside on the bench gaze at the half-timbered houses, haystacks, and milk cans – as if the village itself had been placed in the window. A place to pause, entirely without pathos.
