Lake Tegel in Reinickendorf is the second largest lake in Berlin with a total area of around 450 hectares. Around Lake Tegel, city dwellers seeking relaxation can enjoy a wide range of leisure and dining options. To the north of the lake, there are playgrounds, park benches with a view of the water and a mini golf course. Small cafes and restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the recreational area invite guests to linger and have a snack. The lake can be circumnavigated on a bike tour around Lake Tegel in around 1.5 hours.

Anyone who makes their way to Lake Tegel through the old village meadows of Alt-Tegel will certainly also look at the Protestant church surrounded by beautiful old trees. The first service was held here, in the Protestant church, on January 19, 1912. 100 years have now passed since then. If we look at the village churches of the Reinickendorf church district - Alt-Wittenau and Alt-Reinickendorf - which are over 700 years old, then this church building is still very young. It is astonishing to learn that the entire building, reminiscent of the old Saxon church forts, was only built in 1911. This church building is the fourth on the same site, a Germanic and later Wendish urn cemetery. From this we can conclude that the Tegel church square was already a place of worship in pre-Christian times.

I didn't initially identify the tree as a larch. But good: it is one. However, the tallest tree is elsewhere.
