The view from the tower of St. George's Church in Wismar is one of the most impressive panoramas in Northern Germany. At a height of approximately 36 meters, it offers a panoramic view of the old town, the harbor, and the Baltic coast – on a clear day, even as far as the island of Poel. From above, the entire UNESCO World Heritage city unfolds in its medieval structure: one recognizes the red tiled roofs, the typical gabled houses, and the geometrically laid out streets. The towers of the other two main churches rise particularly prominently: St. Mary's, whose massive tower is the only remaining church, and the brick Gothic church of St. Nicholas with its high choir. The market square with the neoclassical town hall and the baroque waterworks are also clearly visible. To the north, the view opens up to the Old Harbor, where traditional sailing ships and modern yachts are moored. Behind it, the Bay of Wismar shimmers, glowing a vibrant blue on sunny days. Those looking east will see the green outskirts of the surrounding countryside and, on a clear day, even the silhouettes of the shipyards. The tower of St. Georgen can be reached via elevator or stairs. At the top, visitors will find a glass-enclosed viewing platform that offers shelter from all weather conditions while still guaranteeing a clear view. The climb is definitely worth it – not only for the magnificent view, but also for the feeling of standing above a city with almost 800 years of history.

Worth seeing churchyard.

After the war, this church was built from wood and brick. Its design resembles a tent. It was only supposed to last for 20 years, but was then saved and continued to be used.

The playground is right next to the train station and is a lovely shady spot in the summer. There's a lovely park next to it.

The station has been rebuilt in recent years and is now a modern transport station, open and friendly.
