A lovely market town with pubs and shops and bakeries. Hilly routes into town but a number of good places for a stop mid ride.

A nice little stop with the pooch and I both getting an ice-cream, plenty of seating outside in a big garden right next to the waterfall

Savage climb for which I’d recommend at least a 32t on rear. Oh and not doing it on a loaded bike😫 But what a view! And very few cars. Always a bonus. Relatively narrow tarmac. Bit gravelly nearer the bottom but gets smooth and dry once above the trees.

Rhos on Sea is described as neat, pristine and peaceful. There is a long seaside promenade and great views.

Great place to start / End your Walk or Pedal

Good food and drink the cafe is popular with bikers and cyclists after climbing the Horseshoe Pass. Bacon butty was one of my favourites. It's definitely worth the stop to enjoy the views from the cafe it's self.

The cliff top cafe with a heart of gold. A walk around the Marine Drive on the Great Orme is a fascinating experience, with a wealth of Archaeology, Geology and Biology on view. But it's a thirsty walk, and all uphill. Half way round, at the highest point, there's a great surprise in store. Built in 1908, and there’s an apocryphal story that suggests the then owner’s somewhat dominant wife wasn’t seen after the concrete foundations were laid… Originally, the cafe was a simple shack, but in the 1980s it was expanded to hold 16 seats, and acted as a warm and cosy shelter for the winter walkers. In 2001 the cafe was expanded again, through EU grant aid, to house a toilet and a larger room, and in 2019 the final expansion phase saw a much larger main room and the new roof terrace created. there is ample free parking, plenty of space inside, outside and on the roof and the best toasted teacakes to be found anywhere.

Llangollen is a town and community, situated on the River Dee, in Denbighshire, Wales. Its riverside location forms the edge of the Berwyn range, and the Dee Valley section of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with the easternmost point of the Dee Valley Way being within the town. It is a wonderful location to ride on all kinds of bikes with the canal running along Llangollen its much better to take that route as the roads are very busy.

A welcome sight after cycling up the horseshoe pass if you need a break from the weather, cup of tea, lunch etc.

Tough climb but can be cycled to the top, although if you stop midway it can be hard to get going again on such a steep gradient.

Wonderful road ! Quiet and scenic

Stunning views of the area. Definitely better than on the road and it does get busy on the A5 at peak hours and summer holidays. Would definitely recommend this road as an alternative.

Good little cafe on Bala Lake it was an old fashioned van outside that has lots of different flavors of ice cream. It was blasting out old 60s music which was fun. Dogs only outside under the umbrellas on hot days. Try the cheese & ham toastie. Prices are a little high but it's well worth it.

Llangower provides access to the lakeside for walks, picnics and bird watching. The stop also offers access to the car park and adjacent toilet facilities provided by the Snowdonia National Park. There is a passing loop and small signal box here which is used on gala days and for the pink timetable to allow trains to pass. A beautiful little picnic area for a stop and a break before cycling them hills again.

Visit 'The Red Cafe' opposite. Wonderful food and hot coffee. Great ambience too

The Cathedral Church of Saints Asaph and Cyndeyrn, commonly called St Asaph Cathedral, is a cathedral in St Asaph, Denbighshire, north Wales. It is the episcopal seat of the Bishop of St Asaph. The cathedral dates back 1,400 years, while the current building dates from the 13th century. 

The castle passed between various owners in the first half of the 14th century, before coming under the control of the Mortimer family. Meanwhile, the walled town had proved impractical to live in, and a newer, much larger, settlement developed outside the defences. In 1400, the walled town was raided during the Glyndŵr Rising, although the castle itself remained secure throughout the rebellion. During the Wars of the Roses, Denbigh was attacked by Lancastrian forces; the walled town was attacked and burnt. In the aftermath, the old town was largely abandoned by its inhabitants, the walled area becoming an extension of the castle's defences.
