The bascule bridge in Westgroßefehn is a landmark on the Fehntjer Tief, of interest to cyclists and pedestrians. It is part of the German Fehn Route and characterizes the townscape of Westgroßefehn.

From 1990 to 1993, the mill's exterior was completely renovated. However, the old grinding mechanism was removed and replaced with modern machinery. The mill building now belongs to the Onken family's compound feed factory.

Westgroßefehn is a district of the municipality of Großefehn and the nucleus of the village of Großefehn, which today consists of Westgroßefehn, Mittegroßefehn and Ostgroßefehn.

Großefehn Canal Built in 1633 by Emden, this approximately 10 km long moor canal connects to the Fehntjer Tief near Westgroßefehn and has four locks, of which the entrance lock from 1786 was restored in the 1990s. From 1921 to 1934, it was connected to the Nordgeorgsfehn Canal (and the Ems-Jade Canal) via the Großefehnanschlusskanal (Grossfehn Connection Canal) to form the Ringkanal (Ring Canal).
