The monument stands directly next to the church in Rysum

The organ in Rysum Church is considered to be the oldest instrument of its kind in Northern Europe with most of its pipes intact, and one of the oldest playable organs in the world. Its basic structure dates back to around 1440 or 1457 and has seven registers on one manual. During the restoration in 1959/1960 by Ahrend & Brunzema, lost registers were reconstructed and the late Gothic case was restored. Significant parts of the case and the pipes have been preserved.
