"The storytelling station "Wasserwerk Weiler" is located on the edge of the factory site. Eight Cologne waterworks ensure the city's supply of drinking water with up to 30,000 cubic meters per hour. The Weiler waterworks, built in 1925, treats groundwater that is pumped from numerous wells at the waterworks. The groundwater is cleaned to such an extent on its way through the gravel sands of the Rhine that it only needs to be passed through activated carbon filters. Dissolved organic water constituents, suspended matter, odors and flavors accumulate in the containers with activated carbon and are flushed out during maintenance. Underground drinking water reservoirs such as the one under the area between the road and the building above buffer consumption fluctuations. On the opposite side of the street, an information board from Rheinenergie illustrates the path of water from the groundwater stream to the consumer. However, the important contribution made by the Pulheim stream, which in the Große Laache, via a cleaning system of pond chains and an infiltration slot, annually drains around 2 million liters into bathing water quality into the groundwater, which in around 10 years reaches the fountain gallery at the Weiler waterworks. "The Frohnhof in Cologne Esch - the name is a proper name and is therefore written with an 'h' like the street of the same name - was first mentioned in documents in 1295, the first recorded lease dates back to 1410. It belonged to the Cologne Abbey of Groß St. Martin. The forest belonging to the abbey had to be managed from the Frohnhof. This may be the Escher Bruch, which was cut down in 1848. According to an inventory of the property of the Abbey of Groß St. Martin from 1803, the Frohnhof owned 300 acres of land. With the secularization of the Abbey of Groß St. Martin in 1802, the Abbey of Groß St. Martin was abolished and with it its feudal ties. The former monastery property was subsequently auctioned off. Today the Frohnhof appears as a building from the 17th/18th century with a newly built commercial wing from the 20th century. The size of the enclosed courtyard indicates a certain wealth in historical time. The construction of the residential building with a balcony attached to the side and a central projection in front underlines this. The Frohnhof is still surrounded by meadows and pastures to the north and, to a lesser extent, to the west and south.
