The Bamenohl run-of-river power plant in Finnentrop, a listed historical monument, operated by Lister und Lennekraftwerke GmbH (LLK), has been an important component of the region's hydroelectric power supply since its commissioning on February 21, 1923. History and Architecture The power plant was built in 1921/1922 in the Art Nouveau style and is located at the southern edge of Bamenohl, near the castle, giving it the appearance of an elegant garden pavilion. The facility includes an intake structure in Neukamp-Grevenbrück and a headrace, approximately two kilometers long, running parallel to the Lenne River. Much of the original technology is preserved and still in operation. In the early 2000s, the power plant had to be temporarily shut down due to defects in the rubble stone wall of the headrace, but it was subsequently renovated and put back into operation.

A very interesting facility that has been reliably producing electricity for a long time. There's seating (a table and benches) at the facility. It's a nice place for a short break.

The ride through the Repetal valley is truly a wonderful route. Unfortunately, especially in hot weather, we recommend bringing plenty of drinks. Apart from the Reit- und Sporthotel Platte, we couldn't find any restaurants on a Saturday afternoon, and Hotel Struck couldn't help us either. So, be sure to fill up your water bottle and pack an apple.

The truly beautiful church is worth a visit, even from the inside. The town of Grevenbrück seemed a bit sleepy on a Saturday afternoon, with that typical Sauerland flair beyond the tourist crowds. I like that.

Not freely accessible

There are several public bathing areas, such as at Schnütgenhof in Attendorn and Kessenhammer in Olpe, as well as the “Waldenburger Bucht” lido, which was converted using 1,500 tons of sand and is now the largest beach club in Germany, with volleyball courts and restaurants.
