The formerly independent parish of St. Servatius, with over 800 years of history, is one of the oldest in the diocese, as evidenced by its rare dedication to Bishop Servatius. The present church was built between 1860 and 1962, and its tower houses Emsdetten's oldest bells, dating from 1504 and 1696.

On summer nights, the bridge is transformed into an almost surreal scene, ranging from creepy to fascinating, depending on your taste, thanks to the changing colors of the lighting on the railings: Spider webs, with their inhabitants and countless victims, glow in neon colors all over the railings. 😱 The spiders have apparently figured out where their victims are attracted by the lighting. See my photos of them from last night, which I just uploaded. The riverbank around the bridge (both north and south) is also a very charming area for a night hike/walk! 🙂 On the eastern side of the river, it's even darker and more secluded. On both sides of the river, you can hear plenty of wildlife, which claims the area even more at night than during the day.

Great route out of the city

The stretch on the dike along the canal road is really good for racing when it is empty

The path connects the city center with the north center and the sewage fields.

It's just lovely to cycle along here and see a ship every now and then.
