Eleven Friends Roundabout in Kaiserslautern On the way to the Fritz Walter Stadium in Kaiserslautern, you pass the Löwenburg roundabout, unofficially called the "Eleven Friends Roundabout." In 2004, eleven concrete soccer players were erected here for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, symbolizing the city's football tradition. In August 2004, the artist Christel Lechner designed the concrete soccer team. The interior of the roundabout was created in preparation for the upcoming 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. They stand on artificial turf that covers the entire interior of the roundabout. The figures do not represent real players, but rather represent the "Eleven Friends" of a soccer team. The team does not refer to a specific soccer club, but symbolically represents the 1. FC Kaiserslautern team. The base is adorned with the saying that appears on the former "Victoria" championship trophy: "You must be Eleven Friends if you want to win victories." You pass the Elf-Freunde roundabout on your way up from the main train station to the stadium on the Betzenberg.
