You can have a nice picnic there. Benches are available. At the corner of Altonaer Straße and Am Strande, there's a snack bar that's busy and open even after 9 p.m.

The Pagoda Warehouse is now a restaurant. I've known it since 1973. It used to be a dilapidated, run-down warehouse where fishing nets, buoys, slings, and the like were stored. The entire back area used to be sand and gravel.

Fisherman with a net by Karlheinz Goedtke Karlheinz Goedtke was born on April 15, 1915 in Katowice/Upper Silesia and grew up in Breslau. From 1931 to 1936 he studied at the Werkkunstschule in Stettin under Bauhaus student Kurt Schwerdtfeger and from 1938 to 1940 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin. From 1945 he worked as a freelance artist in Ratzeburg. His first public and nationally recognized commission was the sculpture of Till Eulenspiegel for Mölln in 1950. A year later he also moved to this city. A number of prizes and awards recognized his work, including the Cornelius Prize of the City of Düsseldorf (1954), the Silesian Culture Prize of the State of Lower Saxony (1988) and the Culture Prize of the Duchy of Lauenburg (1993). Many of his over 200 large sculptures, mostly with human and animal motifs, can be found in public spaces in Schleswig-Holstein, but he is also represented in the rest of Germany and abroad. Karlheinz Goedtke died on August 23, 1995.
