The reservoir was originally created to supply cooling water to a cement plant in the Obereichsfeld! In the end, this did not happen and so it has become a leisure paradise 🐟 🥾 👍

Very nice circular hiking trail, also by mountain bike.

The forester's house in Geney used to have no water supply of its own. Therefore the foresters used this source for their supplies. The water was transported on a cart pulled by a donkey. Hence the name "Eselsquelle".
