Parts of the trail at the valley exit, where the climb really begins, were in extremely poor condition: washed out, with large stones, gravel and scree, and crumbling concrete. Experienced mountain bikers have fallen before my eyes, more or less hopping from rock to rock or sinking into the gravel pit.

The hut is named after Emilio Comici, a passionate mountaineer who dedicated his life to the Dolomites. Born in Trieste in 1901, he discovered his love for the mountains at an early age and moved to the Dolomites at the age of 31, where he worked as a mountain guide. He celebrated numerous successes, opened famous climbing routes and was awarded a gold medal for his ascent of the north face of the Sasso Lungo. In 1940, he died in a fall from a rock face in his beloved mountains.

A plateau with an alpine lake (Grünsee) and a modern hut. The entire plateau is embedded in a basin and leaves behind a fairytale landscape that resembles a natural amphitheater.

The first section is a fast flow trail with small jumps that can be easily ridden over, making it suitable for everyone. The second section, after the long gravel path, has many smaller climbs and is more of a transfer. From the last section onward, the trail is, for me, a perfect mix of rooty singletrack and built-up sections, absolutely great to ride.
