There are two restaurants at the summit. Unfortunately, there are no views to the north, and they can be a bit crowded on holidays. At Rasica (about 4 km east), there is a viewing tower with a 360° panoramic view and fewer people.

There is a snack bar under the castle, where food is also served during the week, and at the end of the week the selection is even larger. If the climb to the Old Castle is not enough for you, you can continue from there to St. Tilno on the Repenjska hill.

A trip to the castle is suitable for all seasons - in winter for catching the sun's rays and watching the snow-capped Alps in the distance, but in summer it is a welcome cooling off due to its higher location and shady path.

Šmarna Gora – St Mary's Mount – is a popular objective above the Slovene capital that's often referred to as 'the roof of Ljubljana'. The summit is crowned by a Baroque church and also boasts a restaurant and a famous wishing bell. Expect a beautiful panorama from the summit, with exceptional views towards the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.
