The trail runs directly along the lake, over wooden boardwalks, beautifully landscaped gravel paths, and across the floating bridge, sometimes shaded, sometimes in full sun, is truly beautiful. The hike around the lake is rather modest, as the road portion is estimated at over 90%. No, this isn't nature-based hiking; that's life-threatening. The traffic bridge, beautifully decorated with flower boxes, offers a classic view of Celjne from the southwest. The river bike path begins here, heading west; there's a small parking lot nearby.

This footbridge across the Savinja crosses from the flat pastures to the west of the city towards the Posavje Hills, which are renowned for their vineyards. From here, it's a relatively short hike to the Planinski dom na Brnici hut, from where you can venture to the forest-covered Hom or head for Kotečnik, a beloved sport climbing venue. The Savinja is one of Slovenia's great rivers and is a tributary of the Sava.

This footbridge crosses Šmartinsko jezero, a beautiful artificial lake to the north of Celje. It connects Loče to the western shore of the lake, where the boathouse and Skondonga beach bar are found. The beach bar is named after a legendary creature that inhabits the lake, so keep your eyes peeled when crossing the bridge!
