Liptovská Mara is the largest water reservoir in Slovakia, located in the Liptovská Basin, between the Tatras and the Low Tatras. The Váh (Slovak: Váh, Hungarian: Vág, Polish: Wag) is the longest river in Slovakia and, after the Danube and the Tisza, the longest river in the Carpathian Basin, with a length of 403 km (other counts 378 km). It rises near the centre of Slovakia in the Low and High Tatras, alternates between broad plains and narrow valleys, circles the high mountain ranges of Slovakia in a large semicircle and flows into the Danube near Komárno (east of Bratislava) (river kilometre 1766).
