The Molden stretches above the Lustrafjord, which together with the Gaupnefjord forms the innermost part of the huge Sognjefjord. The Molden is often referred to as the most beautiful vantage point in Luster. From the summit plateau you can enjoy the views from different perspectives, down to the turquoise Lustrafjord, to the peaks of Jotusheimen and Breheimen, down to Urnes, towards Solvorn and Gaupne.

We walked up to the top of the hill with just sun and 32 degrees. We had to stop several times because some parts of the trail are really steep and with a lot of small stones. You should be well trained to make it within 3 hours.

A magnificent view of the side arm of the Sognefjord, which extends from here for another 200 kilometers to the sea. The signposted course is ideally suited for a break with a fjord panorama.

A few moss-covered cairns and rotted wooden beams still bear witness to earlier settlements here. In the dark coniferous forest, it surrounds an almost mystical atmosphere.
