Rondvassbu is the DNT cabin in the very heart of the Rondane National Park and is deservedly popular. Originally built in 1903, the facility has seen many renovations in its time and provides unrivalled access to Rondane’s major peaks and trails. If you plan to camp nearby, you can still pay for the use of the facilities and purchase food.

Here you're very close to the clear water cascading down rock faces and through the verdant valley. The wooden bridge is also typical in this area, and it serves as a charming crossing over rivers or streams, adding a rustic, traditional element to the landscape.

Kvam is a small but historic village in Gudbrandsdalen, best known as the site of heavy fighting during World War II in 1940. Today it’s a peaceful stop with a war memorial, a distinctive wooden church and a couple of cafés where you can pause before continuing along the valley.

A tough climb to the summit. In Vinstra, the climb begins on asphalt and later changes to gravel. A hilly section follows, before finally reaching the summit, with a decent gradient and a few switchbacks. The magnificent scenery is, of course, a great reward.

For me, one of the most beautiful churches I have ever visited. It was built in the log cabin style and exudes a very cozy, homely atmosphere. The only church I have ever seen with a wood-burning stove. Simple but beautiful!
